Cooked Chocolate Cake

  • 2 c. flour
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 4 Tbsp. cocoa
  • 1 stick butter
  • 1/2 c. Crisco
  • 1 c. water
  • 1/2 c. buttermilk
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 eggs

Directions

    Mix together the flour and sugar and set aside.
  2. 2
    Mix together the cocoa, Crisco, butter and water.
  3. 3
    Bring to a boil, then pour over flour and sugar.
  4. 4
    Mix together the buttermilk, soda, vanilla and eggs.
  5. 5
    Add to the mixture.
  6. 6
    Pour in 11 x 16-inch greased pan. Bake at 400° for 15 to 20 minutes or until done.

    Start making frosting 5 minutes before cake is done.
