- 3 pounds broiler chicken quartered
- 2 tablespoons oil
- 1 tablespoon chopped onion
- 1 tablespoon flour
- 1/2 cup red wine
- 1/2 cup chicken broth clear
- 1 garlic clove crushed
- 1 bay leaf
- 1/4 teaspoon thyme
- 12 white onions smalls
- 1 cup sliced mushrooms
- 1 pound bacon
Directions

1In a large, heavy skillet, cook bacon and chopped onion in heated oil until slightly browned. Add chicken and cook until brown.

2Stir in flour and cook until well browned.

3Add wine, chicken broth, garlic, bay leaf, thyme, white onions, and mushrooms.

4Bring to boil. Cover. Simmer for 45 minutes, or until meat is tender.

5Garnish with slices of fried bread.

6Serve with boiled potatoes.
