- 4 slices bacon
- 1 c. all-purpose flour
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. salt
- 2 c. white corn meal
- 2 c. buttermilk
Directions

1Cook bacon until crisp; drain, reserving 3 tablespoons drippings.

2Crumble bacon finely; set aside.

3Stir together flour, sugar, soda and salt.

4Stir in corn meal; add buttermilk and reserved drippings and bacon.

5Mix well; pour into well greased 1 1/2 quart casserole.

6Bake at 350° until top is golden brown. Cool; invert.

7Cut into thin slices.

8Makes 1 loaf.
