- 3/4 c. yellow corn meal
- 1 1/2 c. sifted flour
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 2 Tbsp. sugar
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 egg, well beaten
- 1 c. milk
- 1/4 c. melted shortening
Directions

1Sift corn meal and flour with baking powder, sugar and salt. Combine egg, milk and shortening.

2Pour milk mixture into dry ingredients all at once and stir quickly until mixture is smooth. Put into a greased 9-inch square pan.

3Bake at 425° for 12 to 15 minutes.
