- 1 c. corn meal
- 1 c. flour
- 4 tsp. baking powder
- 3 Tbsp. sugar
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 1/2 c. milk (sweet)
- 2 Tbsp. shortening
- 1 egg
Directions

1Mix corn meal, flour, baking powder, sugar and salt together. Add milk and egg.

2Take shortening and melt in an iron skillet. While skillet and shortening are hot, pour in corn bread mixture. Bake at 400° for approximately 25 minutes, or until knife inserted in center comes out clean.
