  • 1 c. yellow corn meal
  • 1 c. flour
  • 1/4 c. sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 4 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/4 c. shortening, soft
  • 1 c. milk

Directions

    Sift together dry ingredients, then add other ingredients and beat with egg beater until smooth, about 1 minute.

    Bake in 8-inch greased square pan at 425° for 20 to 25 minutes.
