  • 3/4 c. corn meal (yellow)
  • 1 c. flour
  • 1/3 c. sugar
  • 3 tsp. baking powder
  • 3/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. milk
  • 1 egg, well beaten
  • 2 Tbsp. melted shortening

Directions

    Mix together the first 5 ingredients.

    Mix in the milk, egg and melted shortening.

    Spoon into shallow pan (8-inch square). Bake for 20 minutes, until lightly browned and all edges let go. Set oven at 425°.
