Ingredients
- 2 1/2 c. yellow cornmeal
- 1/2 c. flour
- 2 tsp. sugar
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 2 c. milk
- 6 oz. shredded Cheddar cheese
- 1 (8 3/4 oz.) can cream-style corn
- 1/4 lb. bacon (about 7 slices), cooked crisp and crumbled
- 1/2 c. bacon drippings
- 1/2 c. seeded and finely chopped jalapeno peppers for peppy bread or chopped green peppers
- 1/2 c. finely chopped onions
- 3 slightly beaten eggs
- 1/4 c. drained pimientos
- 1 clove garlic, minced
Directions

1In large mixing bowl, mix cornmeal, flour, sugar, baking powder and salt.

2In another bowl combine the remaining ingredients.

3Add all this to cornmeal mixture.

4Pour into greased baking pan (13 x 9-inch).

5Bake at 425° about 30 or 35 minutes.

6Serve warm.
