- 1 lb. hot dogs
- vegetable oil
- 1 c. all purpose flour
- 2 Tbsp. cornmeal
- 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 3 Tbsp. shortening
- 3/4 c. milk
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 medium onion, grated
Directions

1Pat hot dogs dry with paper towel.

2Heat oil (2 - 3 inches) to 365°.

3Mix flour, cornmeal, baking powder and salt.

4Cut in shortening.

5Dip hot dogs in batter, allow excess batter to drip off.

6Fry 6 minutes turning once.

7Insert wood skewers in end of each.
