Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. cornmeal
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp. garlic salt
  • 1/2 c. milk
  • 1 pkg. hot dogs or 1 can vegetarian hot dogs
  • 1/2 c. flour
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 tsp. onion salt
  • 1/2 Tbsp. sugar

Directions

    Dry hot dogs well with paper towels.

    Skewer with a small stick.

    Set aside.

    Mix all other ingredients until the consistency of medium thick pancake batter.

    Dip hot dogs into batter until well covered.

    (The secret is to have very dry hot dogs and batter not too thin.)

    Place batter covered hot dogs in very hot oil and deep fry until dark, gold brown.

    Keep in warmer until ready to serve.

    Serve with dip, mustard or catsup.
