- 3/4 c. butter or shortening
- 1 egg
- 1 c. brown sugar
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 1/4 c. plain flour
- 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1 c. yellow corn meal (plain)
- 1/2 tsp. salt
Directions

1Cream shortening and sugar; add egg and vanilla.

2Mix well. Sift the next 4 ingredients together.

3Add to first mixture.

4Form or divide into 2 rolls and refrigerate a few hours.

5Overnight is better.

6Slice thin and bake at 375° for 8 to 10 minutes.
