  • 2 c. buttermilk
  • 3 Tbsp. flour (all-purpose)
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 2 Tbsp. bacon fat (for bottom of pan; optional)
  • 1 egg

    Bake at 450° for 20 to 30 minutes.

    During last 2 or 3 minutes, turn heat to broil to brown top of corn bread.
