- 1 c. self-rising flour
- 1 Tbsp. sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 stick melted butter
- 2 1/2 c. buttermilk
- Crisco
Directions

1Moderately grease large cast-iron skillet.

2Measure cornmeal, flour and sugar into large bowl.

3Beat egg with fork (using small circular motion).

4Add to cornmeal mixture.

5Add buttermilk.

6Beat mixture with a spoon.

7Add melted butter.

8Stir.

9Pour into pan. Cook at 450° to 475° for 25 minutes or until brown.
