  • 1 c. self-rising flour
  • 1 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 stick melted butter
  • 2 1/2 c. buttermilk
  • Crisco

    Moderately grease large cast-iron skillet.

    Measure cornmeal, flour and sugar into large bowl.

    Beat egg with fork (using small circular motion).

    Add to cornmeal mixture.

    Add buttermilk.

    Beat mixture with a spoon.

    Add melted butter.

    Stir.

    Pour into pan. Cook at 450° to 475° for 25 minutes or until brown.
