  • 1 1/4 c. meal (not self-rising)
  • 1/2 c. flour
  • 1/8 c. sugar
  • 1 heaping tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 egg
  • buttermilk
  • bacon drippings

Directions

    Mix the first 5 ingredients together well; stir in egg.

    Add buttermilk until pourable consistency.

    Pour into iron skillet with hot bacon drippings; heat on high for about 30 seconds.

    Put in a 400° oven and bake for 25 to 30 minutes.
