- 1 c. plain flour
- 1 tsp. brown sugar
- 1/4 c. Crisco oil
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1 1/2 c. buttermilk
- 3/4 tsp. soda
Directions

1Sift the flour, then measure 1 cup.

2Sift together with soda, salt and baking powder.

3Mix with cornmeal.

4Combine oil, sugar and eggs.

5Mix well.

6Add buttermilk and flour mixture.

7Beat until smooth.

8Bake in a well-greased iron frying pan 25 to 30 minutes at 420°.
