- 1/2 cups Salted Butter
- 2/3 cups White Sugar
- 2 whole Eggs
- 1 cup Buttermilk
- 1/2 teaspoons Baking Soda
- 1 cup Cornmeal
- 1 cup All-purpose Flour
- 1/2 teaspoons Salt
Directions

1Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Grease an 8-inch square pan.

2Melt butter in a large skillet. Remove from heat and stir in sugar. Dump into a medium bowl, and quickly add eggs, beating until well blended. In a separate bowl, combine buttermilk with baking soda and stir into butter mixture. Stir in cornmeal, flour, and salt until well blended and few lumps remain. Pour batter into the prepared pan.

3Bake in the preheated oven for 30-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Mine had already started to get dark at the edges by 30 minutes, so keep an eye on it for burning.
