  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 1/2 c. flour
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 c. cornmeal
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder

Directions

    Cream shortening; add sugar and cream well.

    Beat in egg until fluffy; add vanilla.

    Stir together remaining dry ingredients, add to creamed mixture and mix thoroughly.

    Roll out dough on lightly floured board and cut.

    Bake at 400° for 6 to 8 minutes or until cookies are lightly browned.
