- 1 c. sifted all-purpose flour
- 3/4 c. corn meal
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 3/4 tsp. salt
- 2 Tbsp. sugar
- 1 egg, beaten
- 3/4 c. milk
- 1/4 c. melted shortening or cooking oil
Directions

1Sift dry ingredients.

2Add egg, milk and shortening.

3Stir until blended.

4Do not overmix.

5Mix only enough to dampen dry ingredients.

6Heat greased cornstick pans.

7Pour in batter.

8Bake in preheated very hot oven (450°) for about 20 minutes.
