Country Bread Pudding

  • 4 c. milk (scalded)
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1 stick butter, softened
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • stale bread

Directions

    Blend sugar and butter in bottom of 9 x 13 x 2-inch baking pan.

    Add eggs and vanilla; mix well.

    Add hot milk to egg mixture, mixing well.

    Break and add bread until you reach desired consistency (usually 1/2 loaf).

    Bake at 350° until pudding sets in center and golden brown around edge.
