- 2 Tbsp. bacon fat
- 1 medium head cabbage, shredded
- salt and pepper
- 1 tsp. sugar
- 1 medium onion
Directions

1Heat bacon fat in 10-inch iron skillet.

2Add shredded cabbage. Cook over low heat.

3Stir frequently until lightly browned. Cover and cook, stirring, until crisp-tender, about 5 minutes. Sprinkle with salt, pepper and sugar.

4Add sliced onion, if desired.

5Simmer until onion is sauteed.

6Serve hot with hot-water cornbread or crackling bread.
