Crabmeat Pie

Ingredients

  • 2 (8 or 9-inch) pie shells (do not use deep dish shells)
  • 1 lb. crabmeat
  • 1 (6 or 8 oz.) bulk Swiss cheese, cubed (save 1/3 to be grated on top of pies)
  • 1/2 c. chopped green onions
  • 1/2 c. chopped celery
  • 3/4 c. mayonnaise
  • 1 slightly beaten egg
  • 1 1/2 packs crushed saltines or Hi Ho crackers
  • 1 Tbsp. seafood seasoning
  • 1 tsp. dry mustard or prepared mustard
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup or cream of shrimp soup
  • 1 small can sliced mushrooms, drained
  • 1 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • crushed red peppers or flaked red peppers to taste
  • 1/2 tsp. black pepper

Directions

    Mix all ingredients together in a bowl, reserving the grated cheese.

    If mixture seems too thick, add a little milk.

    Pour into pie shells; sprinkle grated cheese on top of pies.

    Finally, sprinkle paprika on top.

    Bake at 350° in preheated oven for approximately 45 to 50 minutes.

    Let stand at room temperature for about 30 to 40 minutes before cutting.
