  • 1 c. sifted flour
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 c. shortening, chilled
  • 2 or 3 Tbsp. ice cold water

Directions

    Sift flour and salt together.

    Cut in shortening with pastry blender until the pieces are the size of small peas.

    Sprinkle 1 tablespoon water over flour mixture.

    Toss lightly with a fork. Continue adding water gradually and tossing quickly until dough holds together.

    Chill dough 5 minutes.

    Roll on floured board until very thin.

    Cut into 1-inch wide strips and place on cookie sheet.

    Bake at 400° until tips of crackers are golden brown.
