Ingredients
- 2 c. flour
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 1/2 c. pecans or walnuts
- 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1 c. sugar
- grated rind of 1 orange
- 1/2 c. orange juice
- 2 Tbsp. melted butter
- boiling water
- 1 whole egg, well beaten
- 1 c. whole raw cranberries
Directions

1Mix together the first 6 ingredients.

2Put in a measuring cup the orange juice, melted butter and enough boiling water to make 3/4 cup liquid.

3Add this liquid to the well beaten egg.

4Add the liquid ingredients to the dry ingredients.

5Mix well, then stir in the cranberries.

6Bake in greased and floured pan at 325° for 45 minutes to 1 hour.

7Makes 1 regular size loaf. This is best if not cut for 24 hours.

8It mellows with age.

9Freezes well.
