- 2 c. flour
- 1 c. sugar
- 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 orange
- 2 Tbsp. shortening
- boiling water
- 1 egg
- 1 c. cranberries, cut in half
Directions

1Sift flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt.

2In a 1-cup measure, mix the juice and grated rind from the orange.

3Add the shortening and enough boiling water to make 3/4 cup.

4Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients.

5Add the egg and cranberries and mix well.

6Pour into a greased and floured 8 x 4-inch loaf pan and let stand for 20 minutes.

7Bake at 350° for 60 to 70 minutes.

8This recipe is easily doubled.
