- 2 cups flour
- 12 teaspoon salt
- 12 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 12 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 orange, juice of and grated rind
- 1 egg, beaten
- 2 tablespoons melted shortening or 2 tablespoons salad oil
- 1 cup cranberries, coarsely ground
- 12 cup walnuts, coarsely chopped
Directions

1Mix dry ingredients together very well in a large mixing bowl.

2Put the juice and grated rind in a measuring cup and add enough boiling water to make 3/4 cups liquid.

3Add to the dry mixture.

4Add the egg and shortening or oil and mix just enough to moisten the flour mixture.

5Add cranberries and walnuts.

6Bake in a greased loaf pan 60 to 70 minutes at 325 degrees.

7Store 24 hours before cutting.
