Ingredients
- 2 c. flour
- 1 c. sugar
- 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. salt
- juice and rind of 1 orange
- 2 Tbsp. shortening, melted
- 1 egg, well beaten
- 1/2 c. nuts, chopped
- 1 c. fresh cranberries, cut in half
Directions

1Sift dry ingredients.

2Combine the juice, rind, shortening and enough water to make 3/4 cup of liquid.

3Add juice mixture to dry ingredients.

4Add egg.

5Mix just enough to blend.

6Add nuts and cranberries.

7Makes 1 large loaf or 2 small loaves.

8Grease pan and bake at 350° for 50 to 60 minutes.

9Better when a day or two old.
