  • 2 c. sugar
  • pinch of salt
  • 2 c. light corn syrup
  • 1/2 c. butter
  • 2 c. half and half
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract

Directions

    Combine sugar, salt and corn syrup in large heavy saucepan. Bring to a boil.

    Cook to firm ball stage (245° on candy thermometer), stirring occasionally.

    Add butter and cream gradually so that mixture continues to boil.

    Cook, stirring constantly until mixture returns to 245°.

    Remove from heat.

    Add vanilla, mixing well.

    Pour into buttered 9-inch square baking pan.

    Cool; turn onto waxed paper.

    Cut into 3/4 inch squares. Wrap squares in waxed paper.
