  • 9 lb. (acme paper bag full) cucumbers, sliced 1/8-inch thick
  • 2 gal. cold water
  • 3 1/4 c. hydrated pickling lime
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 2 tsp. turmeric
  • 2 qt. vinegar (cider)
  • 11 c. sugar
  • 1 box pickling spice, tied in cheesecloth

Directions

    Soak cucumbers in lime water 8 hours or overnight.

    Drain and rinse in cold water several times.
