- 3 c. sugar
- 1 stick butter
- 1 stick margarine
- 3 c. plain flour
- 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1 c. milk
- 5 eggs
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 tsp. lemon juice (optional)
- 1 Tbsp. Crisco shortening
Directions

1Cream together sugar, margarine and butter in a large mixing bowl.

2In a separate bowl combine eggs, milk, vanilla flavoring and lemon juice (optional).

3Sift plain flour and baking powder in a separate bowl.

4Alternate adding small amounts of milk and egg mixture to sugar and butter with small amounts of flour with a medium speed mixer until completely mixed.

5Add shortening and mix thoroughly.

6Pour into preoiled and floured tube cake pan.

7Bake at 325° for 1 1/2 hours.
