  • flour
  • 1/4 c. cornmeal
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 c. buttermilk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 lb. wieners
  • oil for deep frying

Directions

    Mix 1/2 cup flour, cornmeal, salt and soda.

    Beat together buttermilk and egg, then stir into flour mixture until smooth. Cut wieners in half crosswise and roll in flour to coat.

    Dip in cornmeal batter to coat.

    Fry in about 2 inches hot oil (370° on deep-fat thermometer), 2 to 3 minutes or until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.

    Serve hot with mustard.
