- 2 c. plus 2 Tbsp. flour
- 1 c. shortening
- 2 c. sugar
- 6 eggs, at room temperature
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
Directions

1Preheat oven to 250°.

2Sift flour 3 times; measure 2 cups plus 2 tablespoons.

3Cream shortening and sugar in mixer bowl until light and fluffy.

4Add eggs alternately with flour, beating well after each addition.

5Add salt and vanilla; beat well.

6Pour into greased and floured 10-inch tube pan.

7Increase oven temperature to 325°.

8Bake for 1 hour and 10 minutes.

9Do not open oven door during baking time.

10Cool in pan for 10 minutes.

11Invert onto serving plate.
