  • 2 gal. large cucumbers
  • 2 c. lime
  • 3 c. vinegar, divided
  • 10 c. sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. alum (powdered)
  • 1 1/2 pkg. (9 1/2 oz.) cinnamon red hots candy
  • 8 cinnamon sticks

    Peel cucumbers; remove seeds and slice 1/4-inch thick.

    Place slices in a crock or enamel canner.

    Mix lime with 8 1/2 quarts of water.

    Pour over slices in crock.

    Let stand 24 hours.

    Pour off lime water and rinse real good.

    Soak slices in ice water for 3 hours.

    Drain.
