  • 2 c. bread cubes (raisin bread is extra good)
  • 1 qt. milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 c. sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
  • 3 Tbsp. melted butter

Directions

    Grease a 1 1/2-quart baking dish.

    Put bread cubes in dish. Beat eggs; add sugar, salt, vanilla, nutmeg and butter.

    Add milk and blend.

    Pour over bread cubes.

    Set baking dish in pan of warm water.

    Bake at 350° for 75 minutes or until a knife inserted in center comes out clean.

    Serves 6 to 8.

    Serve warm or cold.
