- PASTRY
- 2 1/2 cups flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup shortening
- 1 egg yolk, combined with milk to make 2/3 cup (save egg white)
- 1 cup corn flakes
- FILLING
- 6 cut-up apples
- 1 cup sugar
- 3 teaspoons flour
- ICING
- 1 cup icing sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon almond flavoring
- water
Directions

1PASTRY: Sift together flour and salt. With a pastry blender or two knives cut in shortening.

2Separate egg, putting egg yolk in measuring cup. Add milk to measure 2/3 cup.

3Slowly mix in to the flour mixture, do not ovemix. Divide pastry in half.

4Put first half of pastry on a cookie sheet. Sprinkle 1 cup cornflakes over pastry, then spread apple mixture over first layer of pastry, leaving an inch around the edges. Put second layer over top, Press together around the edges.

5Beat egg white and spread over top of pastry.

6Cook in moderate oven (350F) until tender, about 15-20 minutes. Cool slightly.

7ICING: Add enough water to make a paste. Drizzle over top.
