- 3 14 cups self-rising flour
- 2 teaspoons ground ginger
- 12 teaspoon ground cloves
- 12 cup firm unsalted butter
- 23 cup dark brown sugar
- 13 cup molasses
- 1 egg, lightly beaten
Directions

1Preheat oven to 400 degrees F and grease two cookie sheets thoroughly.

2Put the flour and spices in a food processor.

3Cut the butter into small pieces, add to the processor, and blend until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs.

4Add the sugar, molasses, and egg, and mix to a dough.

5Wrap and chill for at least 30 minutes.

6Roll out the mixture on a floured surface.

7Cut out rounds or squares and place on the cookie sheets.

8Bake for 12-15 minutes until the shapes have risen slightly and appear a little paler in color.

9Leave for two minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool.
