- 8 ounces chopped dates
- 34 cup evaporated milk
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 12 cup butter or 12 cup margarine, softened
- 12 cup light brown sugar, packed
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 34 cup quick oats
- 12 teaspoon baking soda
- 12 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 12 teaspoon salt
Directions

1Preheat oven to 400F.

2Grease 8-inch square pan.

3In a medium saucepan combine dates, evaporated milk, sugar and vanilla extract.

4Cook over medium-low heat stirring occasionally for 8-10 minutes until mixture thickens.

5Remove from heat.

6Beat butter and sugar in large bowl until fluffy and creamy.

7Beat in flour, oats, baking soda, cinnamon and salt.

8With floured fingers press 1/2 of crust mixture in bottom of pan.

9Spread date filling over crust.

10Crumble remaining crumb mixture evenly over date filling.

11Bake 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.

12Serve warm.
