- 1/4 c. brown sugar
- 1/2 c. water
- 1 1/2 c. flour
- 1 c. brown sugar
- 3/4 c. butter
- 8 oz. pkg. pitted date halves
- 1/2 tsp. water
- 1 c. oats
- 1/2 c. nuts
Directions

1Grease a 13 x 9-inch pan.

2In a medium pan, combine 1/4 cup brown sugar, dates and water.

3Bring to a boil.

4Reduce heat and simmer 5 minutes or until thick.

5Remove from heat.

6Stir in vanilla.

7Spoon flour into cup, level off.

8In a large bowl, combine flour, oats, 1 cup brown sugar, nuts and salt.

9Use fork and blend in butter until mixture is coarse crumbs.

10Reserve 2 cups of crumb mixture for topping.

11Press crumb mixture firmly in bottom of greased pan.

12Spread evenly with date mixture.

13Sprinkle with remaining crumbs.

14Pat lightly.
-
15Bake at 350° until golden brown.
