Ingredients

  • 3 c. sugar
  • 1 c. canned milk
  • 1 pkg. dates (6 1/2 oz.)
  • 2 c. chopped pecans
  • 3 Tbsp. white Karo syrup
  • dash of salt
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 3 Tbsp. butter or size of egg

Directions

    Cook sugar, butter, milk, salt, syrup and vanilla until soft ball stage is formed in tap water.

    Add cut up dates and cook until dissolved.

    Take off burner.

    Then add pecans and beat until it thickens; transfer onto a large flour sack cup towel which has been wet in tap water and squeezed out very well.

    Form a roll of this mixture and roll it in this towel.

    Leave until cool and cutting stage.
