  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 c. boiling water
  • 1 c. borido pitted dates, cut up
  • 3/4 c. raisins
  • 2 Tbsp. soft butter
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 egg
  • 1 1/3 c. sifted flour
  • 3/4 c. chopped pecans

    Pour soda and boiling water over dates and raisins.

    Set aside.

    Cream butter and sugar.

    Add vanilla, then egg.

    Beat well; add flour and mix.

    Pour in fruit mixture (including water) and pecans.

    Mix.

    Bake in a buttered 9 x 5-inch loaf pan at 350° for 45 to 55 minutes.
