- 1 Tbsp. butter
- 1 c. sugar
- 1 egg
- 2 2/3 c. flour
- 1 tsp. salt
- 2 c. hot water
- 2 tsp. baking soda
- 2 c. chopped nuts
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla
Directions

1Combine dates, hot water and baking soda in a bowl. Mix in another bowl, sugar, butter, egg, vanilla and half the hot water from bowl.

2Mix in flour and salt.

3Fold in remaining hot water and dates and nuts.

4Mix well.

5Bake at 325° for 50 minutes or until knife comes out clean in a greased and floured date-nut pan. Cool; remove from pan and wrap in foil wrap.
