- 1 lb. chopped dates
- 2 tsp. soda
- 2 c. hot water
- 1/4 lb. butter
- 2 c. sugar
- 2 eggs
- 4 c. flour
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 c. nuts
- softened cream cheese
Directions

1Mix the first 3 ingredients and let stand.

2Cream the butter, sugar and eggs.

3Add flour, vanilla and salt.

4Alternate with date mixture.

5Fold in nuts.

6Pour into 7 ungreased juice cans and bake for one hour at 325°.

7Slice very thin and spread with softened cream cheese.
