  • 1 pkg. dates, cut in 1/4-inch pieces
  • 1 1/2 c. boiling water
  • 1 tsp. butter
  • 2 tsp. baking soda
  • 2 1/4 c. flour
  • 1 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 c. nuts, chopped

Directions

    Combine dates, boiling water and butter; set aside.

    In large bowl mix all dry ingredients.

    Add date mixture, egg, vanilla and nuts.

    Grease and flour 2 large loaf pans.

    Bake in 325° oven for 1 1/4 hours.
