  • 1 c. water
  • 1 1/2 c. chopped pitted dates
  • 1 Tbsp. margarine
  • 1/2 c. packed brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 c. buttermilk
  • 1 1/2 c. flour
  • 3/4 c. quick cooking oats
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. pecan pieces

Directions

    Heat oven to 350°.

    Grease an 8 1/2 x 4 1/2 x 2 1/2-inch loaf pan sides and bottom.

    Bring water to a boil in a small saucepan. Pour the water over the dates in a large mixing bowl.

    Add the margarine and brown sugar; blend well.

    Stir in the egg, butter and milk.
