- 1 (8 oz.) pkg. chopped dates
- 1 1/4 c. boiling water
- 2 1/4 c. flour
- 1 c. chopped nuts
- 3/4 c. packed brown sugar
- 1 tsp. soda
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 egg, slightly beaten
- 2 Tbsp. oil
Directions

1Combine dates and boiling water.

2Let stand 15 minutes. Grease and flour a 9 x 5-inch loaf pan.

3Preheat oven to 350°.

4In a large bowl, mix with fork, flour, nuts, brown sugar, soda and salt.

5Stir in egg, oil and date mixture just until flour is moistened.

6Spoon evenly into a loaf pan.

7Bake 65 minutes.

8Cool in pan for 10 minutes.

9Remove from pan.
-
10Makes a 2 pound loaf.
