Ingredients

  • 2 eggs
  • 3/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. Karo syrup
  • 1/2 tsp. almond extract
  • 1 c. dates, chopped
  • 1 c. chopped nuts
  • 3/4 c. sifted flour
  • powdered sugar

Directions

    Beat eggs, salt and almond extract.

    Beat until light. Gradually beat in sugar and syrup.

    Add dates and nuts.

    Mix well. Fold in sifted flour.

    Pour into 2 greased 8-inch square cake pans.

    Bake at 375° for 20 to 25 minutes, until edges are brown. Remove from oven and, while hot, cut into 1 1/2-inch squares. Shape into small balls.

    Roll in powdered sugar.

    Makes 40 cookies.
