Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 c. hot water
  • 1 c. brown sugar
  • 1/2 c. brown sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. butter
  • 1/2 c. milk
  • 1 c. flour
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 3/4 c. chopped dates
  • 3/4 c. chopped pecan nuts

Directions

    Place 1 1/2 cups hot water and 1 cup brown sugar in saucepan; bring to rolling boil and set syrup aside.

    In bowl mix 1/2 cup brown sugar, flour, baking powder, salt and butter.

    Slowly add milk to make a smooth batter; add vanilla, dates and pecans.

    Pour batter into glass bread pan and pour syrup over top of batter. Bake at 350° until golden brown. on the bottom of the pan.
