- 8 oz. dates
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. water
- 1/4 c. chopped nuts
- 3 1/2 c. flour
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 2 c. brown sugar
- 1 c. Crisco
- 2 eggs
- 1 Tbsp. lemon juice
- 1 tsp. vanilla
Directions

1Boil the first 3 ingredients until thick. Add the nuts when mix is cool.

2Mix the flour and baking soda.

3Put aside.

4Beat together the brown sugar, Crisco, eggs, lemon juice and vanilla. Add the date mixture and the flour mixture together.

5Roll out dough to 1/2-inch thick.

6Now spread the date-nut mix over all of the dough mix.

7Now roll it up into a roll like jelly roll and put in wax paper. Store in refrigerator for a day.
