- 1 lb. pitted dates
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1 1/2 c. hot water
- 1 1/4 c. sugar
- 2 Tbsp. butter or margarine
- 1 egg
- 1 1/2 c. flour
- 1 Tbsp. baking powder
- 1 c. chopped nuts
Directions

1Cook 1/2 pound of dates, baking soda and 1 cup hot water until dates soften.

2Cool.

3Mix together 1 cup sugar, butter or margarine and 1 egg.

4Add this to date mixture.

5Add in flour, baking powder and 1/2 cup chopped nuts.

6Bake in a 9 x 12-inch greased pan at 375° for 25 minutes.

7Cook remaining 1/2 pound of dates, 1/4 cup sugar and 1/2 cup water until soft.

8Add 1/2 cup nuts and spread over top of pudding.

9Serve with whipped cream.
