  • 1 (8 oz.) pkg. pitted dates
  • 1 c. nuts
  • 3/4 c. milk
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 1/8 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla

Directions

    Cut dates into small pieces.

    Bring sugar and milk to a boil. Add dates and continue cooking to 238°, stirring constantly.

    Be careful not to scorch.

    Remove from heat and add nuts, salt and vanilla.

    Beat until cool enough to handle with hands.

    Shape into roll about 1 1/2 inches in diameter.

    Wrap in waxed paper and slice when cold.
