  • 1/3 cup instant tapioca
  • 3 cups cold water
  • 2 cups firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1 cup chopped dates
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans
  • Whipped cream

Directions

    Combine tapioca, water, sugar, and dates in a small Dutch oven; stir well. Let stand 5 minutes.

    Bring mixture to a boil; reduce heat. Cook, stirring constantly, until slightly thickened. Remove from heat; chill 1 hour. Stir in pecans. Chill until serving time.
